signs of dysregulation

If you are highly sensitive, emotionally deep, or tend to feel things strongly, you may find yourself easily overwhelmed by stress, conflict, or emotional intensity.

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU:

  • Been aggravated at your partner, for no reason you can tell other than they're just there, doing what they do?

  • Heard one insensitive comment from your spouse and you’re either snapping at him or shutting right down, cold and closed off (then walking around for hours or days with a pit in your belly and chest that won't go away)?

  • Found yourself "policing" your partner's behavior (like telling him to speak to you in a different tone of voice).

  • Looked at your spouse and just felt nothing, like you're cut off from the love you hope you still have deep down in that big heart of yours?

  • Had something you wanted to share with your partner, but held it in because you didn't trust you could handle their reaction if it wasn't a good one?

  • Longed for a sense of that playful and carefree–even flirty– energy with your spouse, but instead felt bogged down by emotions like overwhelm, or numbness, disconnection, stress, annoyance, despair, anger, frustration, or loneliness, hopelessness, depression, anxiety, or frazzle?

Over time, this doesn’t just feel uncomfortable — it quietly erodes trust in yourself. You may start to question your reactions, your needs, or your capacity to stay connected when things get hard.

Hannah Brooks Relationship Coaching for Highly Sensitive People

Your nervous system, which is more reactive in HSP’s, is the foundation of not just your emotional well-being, but also your relationships well-being— or it’s lack of well-being!

If you have a chronically overstimulated, dysregulated, stressed out nervous system (which, let's face it, most of us do in our modern world, especially as HSPs), you’re going to have a much harder time in your relationship in every way . . .You’ll be like a garden without nourished soil: wilting, fruitless, fried, fragile, and dried out.

When that's going on, even the most loving, self-aware person can feel hijacked in moments that matter most: conversations, conflict, intimacy, repair.

If any of this sounds familiar, nothing is wrong with you.

It just means your nervous system is overloaded and seeking safety — in other words, dysregulated.
It just means your system has learned protective patterns, and those patterns can be gently re-trained.
And it means

Foundations of Emotional Well-Being (F.E.W.) for HSPs is for you.

(often lovingly called FEW HSP — because phew, you can finally exhale)

This work is not about fixing you — it’s about creating the conditions for safety and choice.

Because nervous system dysregulation is the source of about 90% of relationship strife (like arguments, poor and painful communication, disconnection, and inability to resolve things effectively.)

Because you want to feel calmer, safer,  more connected, clear, open, curious, trusting, courageous, joyful, playful and peaceful . . .Both inside yourself and your relationship.

Because you want to be able to respond and relate to your spouse in the most love-generating ways.

Because your sensitive nervous system is crying out for nourishing support.

Instead of being swept away by intensity. . . instead of shutting down or becoming someone you don’t recognize. . .this course will support your system to settle and feel safer so you can stay rooted within your steadiest self — even when emotions are strong.

  • Diffuse an argument before it even starts, while keeping your wits and feeling grounded.

  • Stop irritability, feeling easily triggered, overstimulation, and bouts of stress and anxiety, and live with a daily sense of security, peace and even lightheartedness.

  • Stay connected to that big heart of yours when challenges come up between you and your spouse, instead of turning against each other, so you can navigate them with ease and a true sense of collaboration.

  • Read your partner accurately and with greater intuition, so you can respond in the best way and deepen trust and intimacy.

  • Always be able to move into the best state of mind to communicate better than ever before, so you can actually get through to your partner in the ways you've always wanted to (but haven't been able to so far) and finally feel truly heard.

IMAGINE THAT YOU COULD:

THIS IS ALL POSSIBLE FOR YOU WHEN

. . .you develop the ability to guide your emotional foundation–i.e. your nervous system – into thriving, healing, regenerative states that not only feel good, but allow you to access the wisest most evolved parts of yourself – including the gifts of your sensitivity.

In FEW, HSP, via my step by step process of developing nervous system regulation and resilience,  you will learn to lovingly guide your sensitive system by nourishing it at the root level .

Each week you'll feel more and more able to stay grounded and centered, and it will be easier and easier to communicate, find resolution of issues, and feel deeper connection and love for your partner, and even lightness and fun together.
drawing of flowers and roots
It’ll feel like a big old sigh of relief. A breath of the freshest air. A walk into the most beautiful peaceful lush garden. . .

Like you have the most solid roots that reach deeply into the most rich soil and hold you steady, strong, stable, and fully nourished.

Testimonials:

Before this course, I was in conflict with my partner and was easily triggered and having a hard time becoming regulated again. I now  have an increased awareness of what I need to stay emotionally regulated in everyday life, not just in conflict, I feel overall calmer and my relationship is better as a result. It made a big difference in this season of my life! If you want to make a change in yourself,  you shouldn't hesitate to take this course. Time shouldn't be an issue because you can keep using the lessons and tools well after the course is over and the cost isn't just for four weeks, but well after that if you are committed to using the tools and making them a part of your everyday life indefinitely.

Hannah Brooks Relationship Coaching for Highly Sensitive People

As you apply what you learn, over time it can begin to feel like this — not because you’re trying harder, but because your nervous system has more capacity and safety:

  • A difficult conversation no longer sends your body into panic

  • You notice emotions rising — and know how to meet them

  • You feel more grounded in yourself, even when others are dysregulated

  • It becomes easier to access words, clarity, and choice in the moment

  • You trust yourself more — your intuition, your timing, your responses

  • Repair happens more naturally, and connection feels more available

  • Your sensitivity becomes a strength, not something that overwhelms you

It's truly the best foundation for a safe heart - and  relationship - to grow from.

How Foundations Fits Into the Bigger Picture and BONUS

Foundations of Emotional Well-Being is designed to stand fully on its own — and it is also the foundation for deeper relational work.

For those who enroll in Foundations now, as a bonus, I am including The Emotional Stewardship Series — i.e. two additional modules on Mind Management and Thought Work (which is equally important for emotional regulation, and non-negotiable for a great, lasting marriage as an HSP), to be released later this spring at no additional cost.

These modules will eventually become part of the expanded Foundations curriculum. Early enrollees will receive lifetime access to them automatically.

Looking ahead, F.E.W. will be a required prerequisite for my upcoming 1:1 Sanctuary program — a deeper, more intimate space for women who are ready to build a marriage where both hearts feel genuinely safe with each other and you become the close-knit, loving team you’ve always wanted to be.

If and when you feel called to continue into The Sanctuary, not only will you're F.E.W. investment act as a full credit toward that program, but you’ll also already be grounded in the language, skills, and nervous-system safety that make that level of work possible.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is this for me?

This course is for you if:

  • You are emotionally sensitive and want more inner steadiness

  • You desire calmer, more connected relationships

  • You're ready to gently practice new ways of being with your emotions

  • You don't need to be in a relationship to benefit, but it WILL benefit your relationship if you're in one.

  • If you're considering coaching 1:1 with me at all, this is the perfect starting place (and will soon be required for deeper relationship work).

This course may not be the best fit if:

  • You’re looking for a quick fix without inner work

  • You’re not ready to engage with your emotional experience

Is this relationship work?

Yes — and also no.

Foundations is not about analyzing your partner, changing his behavior, or learning “better communication techniques.”

It’s about working with the most fundamental layer of every relationship: your nervous system and inner emotional world.

When you feel safer, steadier, and more regulated inside yourself:

  • You respond instead of react

  • You hear your partner more accurately

  • You express yourself more clearly and kindly

  • You recover from conflict more quickly

  • You feel more connection, attraction, and warmth naturally

So while we’re not “working on your marriage” in the traditional sense, this work quietly transforms your relationship from the inside out.

Many women are surprised to find that as they build internal safety and emotional steadiness, their relationship begins to feel easier — without forcing, fixing, or over-managing anything.

Foundations gives you the internal conditions that allow love to flow again.

What if I’m already overwhelmed or feel like I don’t have much extra energy?

Foundations is designed for women who are already tired, sensitive, and stretched thin.

It doesn’t ask you to push harder or “do more.”

It teaches you how to stop leaking energy, regulate your nervous system, and restore yourself from the inside out. Most women find they actually gain more capacity and clarity — not less.

You don’t need to feel ready. You begin exactly as you are.

What if I’ve tried therapy, books, or courses before and they didn’t really stick?

This is very common for highly sensitive women.

Most personal growth work focuses on insight and mindset. But when your nervous system is dysregulated, your body stays in protection mode — and overrides what you “know.” That’s why things make sense intellectually, but disappear in real moments.

Foundations works at the level that makes everything else finally land: your nervous system.

When your body feels safer, tools and insights begin to work naturally.

How does it feel to be part of this group program?

It feels safe, affirming and loving.

Almost every past participant has said to me how great it feels to be in a community of just highly sensitive and deep feeling people because we all "get" each other surprisingly deeply.

And when one person brings up an issue or challenge that they’re having, everybody can relate to it. If you’re used to feeling different or misunderstood, this can feel incredibly healing.

There may be a short period of settling in — but very quickly, most women feel seen, validated, and supported in a way they may never have before.

When will the calls be held?

Most likely, they will be held 1-2pm ET on a weekday (with one week off mid program), so most people will be able to take lunch break to be on the call.

All calls are recorded.

What if I can’t be at some of the calls?

You will receive access to all call recordings, so you can watch or re-watch them anytime.

Replays are wonderful for integration and deeper learning.

If you know you’ll miss most live calls, I encourage you to consider whether you can prioritize this time if you’re truly committed to change.

What if I've been through trauma?

I teach and coach in a trauma-informed way.

This program is not designed to treat trauma directly, but you will learn tools that can support your healing.

Most of us carry some form of trauma.

If you are currently dealing with very recent, severe, or highly activating trauma, I recommend working with a therapist first. If you’ve done some healing work already, or your trauma feels more mild or “integrated”, this program is a wonderful step.

We can grow with our trauma — just not when it’s consuming all our inner resources.

Is there a payment plan option?

I’m happy to offer a payment plan to those who need it. It will be 3 installments of $150.  Please email me at hannah@lifeisworthloving.com to ask for this option, and I will get it set up for you (do not use the regular checkout).

Is the investment really worth it?

This is a thoughtful and important question.

F.E.W. is an investment in:

  • Your emotional health

  • Your marriage

  • Your long-term well-being

  • Your capacity for peace and connection

Many women spend far more over time on therapy, books, and “trying to fix things” — without lasting relief.

This work gives you skills you’ll use for the rest of your life. For most women, the question becomes less:

“Can I afford this?”

And more:

“Can I afford to keep living in overwhelm and disconnection?”
